Sirius Insight is privileged to be working with the Marine Management Organisation to provide maritime surveillance in the Mendhoo Marine Protected Area, a UNESCO biosphere in the Maldives.
As part of the Ocean Country Partnership Programme, an initiative funded by the UK Government’s Blue Planet Fund, Sirius has deployed a multi-use surveillance system to support the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Rangers in their duties to prevent damage to this important marine ecosystem.
Sirius provided training to the rangers on their Insight platform through which they monitor movements and receive 24/7 real-time alerts of suspected illegal fishing, poaching and detection of vessels risking damage to reefs.
Sirius is proud to be strengthening environmental protection in this unique biosphere, ensuring ongoing protection for an area of high biodiversity and its precious populations of marine life, sea birds and corals.
